Purchased this for my boyfriend for Xmas...and he absolutely loved it. He isn't much of a reader, but read this right through and connected with the many thoughts and processes within this little gem. I look forward to sitting down and reading it myself!
Halcyon is so inspiring he gives me chills, and the quick essay format of this collection makes it easy to get a little boost at any point in my day.
I would recommend anyone to read this book especially if you are aggressively trying to find yourself. It is not very long book however the content is very valuable and to the point.
Big fan of John Styn. If you are familiar with HugNation then you already know what to expect, if not google it and buy this book. positive inspiration as a pronoiac antidote for our modern malaise.

Direct and from the heart John shares his heartspeak with all of us. The book is an awesome reminder that what we're looking for is right in front of us.....loving ourselves allows us to love all. A must read for everyone and a daily mantra to share!
This book is absolutely magnificent and it truly opened my eyes to the many truths of life. Each essay gave more answers to many questions I have been trying to find answers and solutions for but John Halcyon Styn made things simple and allowed me to get a deep and fulfilling perception to the realities that we are faced with. He uses great metaphors and comparisons to make the idea clear and more understandable. A quote that truly touched me was "When scientists set up the BioDome project, they tried to create a fully enclosed environment - with plants, water, and animals all isolated and contained under a massive dome. After a period of time, the tallest trees started falling over and scientists were stumped. There were no diseases or problems that they could see. The researchers eventually figured out that the trees, even with all the sun and water they required - did not develop properly in the bubble. Without the blowing wind, the trees' root structures did not grow deep and strong. Without the daily 'struggles' of gusts and storms, the tree did not develop the necessarily support system to support the adult tree.
People, just like trees, need obstacles to build their strength. And actually, from this perspective, one can shift his view of obstacles themselves. If a challenge is required for growth, then it isn't an obstacle at all - but a classroom and steppin stone."
That is the wisdom that you will see throughout this book.
